Today's Throwback Thursday's Horror: Frankenstein's Castle of Freaks (1974) Full Movie

Add Dr. Frankenstein, an evil dwarf named Dunn, and plethora of naked hotties and one can only get cinematic exploitation gold!!!

 Only out of Italy can we find such a demented little gem that is "Frankenstein's Castle of Freaks" (aka: TERROR! Castello delle DonneMaledette). Made in  1974 during the heyday of the exploitation/sexploitation films, "Frankenstein's Castle of Freaks" is a mess of movie that is well worth the time. With an awe inspiring plot that is loosely based on the Mary Shelley classic that we all know and love. But like some many of the iconic monsters that have plagued our imaginations for centuries, B-Movie makers have redefined much of it. Exploring things that sometimes border on porn. Although, sex isn't so much the case with "Frankenstein's Castle Freaks" as the most of the nudity the movie holds are in the form of quick T&A flashing shots.

As you expect with this caliber of exploitation film the acting is shoddy as the camera work and the dubbing is sub-par. But if you are going into this expecting Hollywood blockbuster material then you are in the wrong place. However, with what we have been getting out of Hollywood when it comes to horror, you can't do much worse. No bad CGI or sparkling idiots here. And Kristen Stewert still couldn't fit in with her awesome (I use the word "awesome" as about as loosely as I can) chops for that equally awesome (again the word is used as loosely as before) vampire flick she stared in.

So sit back. Pour yourself a drink, or better yet, just load up the bong. And enjoy.

Stuart Gordon's Castle Freak - You're Throwback Thursday Horror Film

Master of Horror, Stuart Gordon loves his HP Lovecraft and that's what we surely get with "Castle Freaks"!

Based on the short story "The Outsider" this horror fest went straight to DVD back in '95.

John Reilly inherits a 12th Century castle that once belonged to a famed Duchess. John does what anyone would that just inherited a castle: Let's go spend some time there as we try to sell it ! So, as the song says: He scooped the family and moved to Beverly. Except this Beverly was Italy. However, John and family have no idea that there is a horrible monster (of course there is) being kept under lock and key in the basement. Not only is it a horrible beast but it is the Duchess' own son who she imprisoned there as revenge against her husband who left her.

Soon, the disfigured beast has escaped by means of breaking off his own thumb to get out of the manacles which bind him. The only reference to the H.P. Lovecraft story occurs when the monster beholds his hideous reflection in a mirror. He has emerged hungry for blood, leading to a series of unexplained deaths and disappearances including that of a prostitute John has picked up and brought to the castle after being rejected by his wife. The prostitute is sexually mutilated and killed by the monster

As John becomes the prime focus for the murder by the cops he must figure out what it is that is stalking the interior of his castle before it takes out it's aggression next upon his family. As John investigates he learns what other terrible secrets that not only lie inside the castle but in himself as well. Ending in a climatic roof-top battle.

Road Train Horror 2010 [Full Movie] ENG

This fun little morsel comes form the land down under. Not the down under that has given us the Hobbit films, but pretty damn close.

Originally entitled "Road Train" but more commonly known as "Road Kill" we follow the exploits of Marcus (Xavier Samuel), Craig (Bob Morley),  Nina (Sophie Lowe) and Liz (Georgina Haig) as they have to confront a monstrous vehicle that runs their SUV off the road as they travel through the Aussie Outback. The quartet survives the crash, although, Craig is injured. Their nemesis, the TRAIN TRUCK, however  is stopped not far from their wrecked vehicle. Liz and Marcus Investigate  and find  the truck empty of the driver.

As Craig and Nina arrive they are assaulted by the driver who is wielding a gun and has hidden in the brush along the side road forcing the group to take the truck. As they speed away to what they think is safety the four find themselves at just the beginning of an even more sinister experience.

Fields of the Dead Official Trailer

2014 looks like it might be a banner year in the horror genre with a plethora of new horror coming out this month (January) and in February as well.

Set for release on February 4th, Fields of the Dead looks like it could be a fun ride even though it comes with your standard stock horror cliche in which will find several college students as they venture out an abandoned farm where they are doing research on some evil events that have taken place in and around the farm. Of course things go wrong when one of the college peeps finds an ancient book in which they unwittingly summon demons.

While as I have stated it's your basic horror cliche the newly released trailer makes it look like it might be fun. As long as audiences get past the Evil Dead type storyline.  We shall see. Myself I'll give it a go. While not original in anyway at least it Fields of the Dead isn't another sequel in a long line of sequels and it's not a reboot/remake in WAY too long of a line of such.

31 Days 31 31 Picks Trick Or Treat ( FULL MOVIE 1986) by Kas-g

Aaahhh, the horrors of playing your favorite heavy metal album backwards, something that kids today CAN NOT do.

Taken from the scourge of the 1980's Big Brother watch-dog groups the likes of which of Tipper Gore's (Al's wifey-poo) PMRC and the ever popular TV Evangelists (when they weren't throwing lavish sex parties... yes that means you Jim and Tammy Faye) when they would prowl Dateline type shows and Current Affair television (think E! News or that of Access Hollywood to know what the fuck I'm talking about), 1986's "Trick Or Treat" follows the poor outcast teenager Eddie Weinbaur after he learns of the demise of his fav heavy metal dude Sammi Curr.

Completely devastated, Eddie goes to his friend "Nuke" (Gene Simmons), a radio DJ who knew Sammi Curr personally. To take Eddie's mind off the death of his idol, Nuke gives Eddie the only copy of Curr's last and only unreleased album, "Songs in the Key of Death", on an acetate disc (Unlike ordinary vinyl records, which are quickly formed from lumps of plastic by a mass-production molding process, a so-called acetate disc is created by using a recording lathe to cut an audio-signal-modulated groove into the surface of a special lacquer-coated blank disc, a real-time operation requiring expensive, delicate equipment and expert skill for good results. They are made for special purposes, almost never for sale to the general public. They can be played on any normal record player but will suffer from wear more quickly than vinyl. Some acetates are highly prized for their rarity, especially when they contain unpublished material). Nuke plans to play the album in its entirety on-air at midnight on Halloween as tribute, since according to Nuke, that was always Sammi's plan for the album's debut. 

Once back home, Eddie falls asleep listening to the record and has a strange dream about the fire that killed Sammi Curr. When he wakes up he finds that the record is skipping and after listening to it for a few seconds he comes to realize that there is something not right about the words the record is stuck on. Having previous experience with hidden lyrics, Eddie plays the record backwards but receives more than he imagined: Sammi Curr speaking to him from beyond the grave.

Of course only things can go wrong from here... lol... Along with Gene, look for Ozzie playing a priest on TV news.

31 Days 31 Picks Sleepaway Camp (1983) [UNCUT] [HD] Full Movie

The 1980's spawned a plethora of wannabe 'Friday the 13th' films and 'Sleepaway Camp' is no different.

'Sleepaway Camp' follows the story of an introverted teen girl, Angela Baker, struggling with her self identity --in more ways than one. Angela's father and brother were killed in a strange boating accident when she was a young girl. Since Angela is so painfully shy she is sent to camp to possibly open her up emotionally. However things start to go horribly wrong after her arrival with an ending that needs to be seen.

Take a trip upon the Red Balloon as a young Babysitter is disturbed several times one evening by a little girl she is baby sitting as she finds her screaming and standing up on her bed. The babysitter, however, puts her back to bed and tells her that it's just a nightmare, however, the babysitter fails too realize that the nightmare has just begun.

RIP Jesus [Jess] Franco

He was known as the man with many names. But whatever he called himself, Jesus Franco, aka Jess Franco, famed Spanish director has passed away at the age of 82. After he was admitted to the Pascual Clinic in Malaga, Spain last Wednesday with symptoms related to a stroke.

With nearly 200 films under his belt [Jess] Franco ran the gamut of 

genres from everything from Horror to Science Fiction: Eroticism to Porn. Franco had even did a stint as a second unit director for Orson Welles on the film “Chimes at Midnight” that was shot in Spain. Along with Welles [Jess] Franco worked with great Christopher Lee as Lee reprised his role as the famed vampire Vlad Dracula in 1970’s “Count Dracula”. In this version, Dracula is an old man that grows younger from his consumption of blood from the veins of young mavens.

Born in 1930 in Madrid, Spain, [Jess] Franco debut as a director at the age of 18 with the 1959 film “We Are 18 Years Old”. In 1968, Franco, was nominated for the Festival of Berlin for the film “Succubus”. The nomination brought Franco international reputation. From there Franco’s life and career became more consolidated as he tackled the “B” film genre. Filled with endless creativity and talent Franco was able to deliver more than one film a year. Along with being behind that camera Franco acted in almost all his films. Usually playing some sinister character. Always working a micro-budget, Franco -along with the great Ed Wood- can be considered the Godfather of the Do-It-Yourself style of filming. Always finding funding for his films as an independent, and keeping soul control for his vision. However, Franco has always had a problem with getting films released. Most of which being direct to video. But he survived where others had failed and continued to write, direct and produce his movies up until his death. His latest release was the 2012 film “Al Pereira vs. the Alligator Ladies” premiered in theaters on March 22nd.

[Jess] Franco was given an honorary Goya by the Spanish Film Academy for his “rich and varied filmography, and his absolute dedication and professionalism.” In an interview, Franco, that he considered “film as mere entertainment that helps people live. And feared its use to transmit messages of social-political” which he said was boring.

Some of the more notable films by Franco include: “Snakewoman” (2005); “Killer Barbys vs. Dracula” (2002); “Killer Barbys” (1996); “Slave of Crime” (1987); “Night of a 1000 Sexes” (1984); ‘Devil Hunter” (1980); “Jack the Ripper” (1976); “Female Vampire” (1973); “The Sinister Eyes of Doctor Orloff” (1973); “The Mistress of Doctor Jekyll” (1964).
